Frequently asked questions

What does it cost to become a member?
There is non refundable fee of $50 to apply to become a Startup Member of seedstage.com. This provides a mechanism for screening people over the Internet who are not entering a serious application. Your application fee also serves as tuition to seedstage University Online where you will find educational resources for seed stage companies. If approved for membership, seedstage.com will receive a small percentage of the next round funding from the broker/dealer who consummates the transaction.

Is seedstage.com a venture capital firm?
No. Seedstage.com does not directly invest in companies. It works cooperatively with high net worth individual investors (Angels), venture capital firms, and corporate investors to introduce them to investment opportunities that match their respective profiles. Seedstage.com works exclusively with investors who have experience in and are actively investing in high tech companies.

Most venture capital investors today want to invest more than $1,500,000 in a given financing round and are very limited in how many seed stage investments they can make. Seedstage.com focuses on helping companies raise seed stage capital in the $250,000 to $1,500,000 range and cooperates with the venture capital community as companies approach later stage financing rounds.

Does seedstage.com do investment banking?
No. However, seedstage.com is partnered with a broker/dealer partner who facilitates the investment transaction. The broker/dealer receives a small percentage of the transaction as compensation.

Should I make seedstage.com my only financing activity
It is always prudent to have multiple active channels of financing activity. We suggest that you keep open any efforts you had previously initiated in this area.

Who can see the business information I submit? How does seedstage control who has access?
Prior to acceptance as a full member, only the evaluation team at seedstage.com will see your company information. In order for an investor to explore an interest in your company it is necessary to make available an online Executive Summary from your detailed application. The mentor will assist you in creating the Executive Summary. You may choose to withhold information you do not wish investors to see until they contact you with their Investor Profile. In some cases the investor may want to see a complete plan. At such time we will forward the request to you so that you may make the decision to provide the plan.whether to open up additional information to each specific investor.
