evaluating a company for membership, seedstage.com looks at these primary characteristics:
- Right people- We believe that people are the most important success factor in starting a company. Seedstage.com is looking for bright and passionate entrepreneurs who have a deep understanding of their market and the business value they bring. We also access the entrepreneur's commitment to acquiring the best talent and counsel necessary for building a great company.
- Right market- Has the entrepreneur identified a large and growing target market opportunity without entrenched competitors? We are interested in working with companies that have identified growth market opportunities in software, Internet, computer peripherals, networking, semiconductors, and telecommunications.
- Right plan- Most seed stage investors expect to receive a return on investment of at least ten times within a three to five year period. Entrepreneurs must be able to demonstrate a credible growth plan, which shows their ability to be a dominant player in a market that will offer the liquidity and returns that investors require to justify their risk.
- Right stage- We are looking for entrepreneurs, who have already taken the risk to create a business plan, assemble the initial team, possibly build a prototype and are ready to begin serious development of the product and/or market. Entrepreneurs should be preparing to raise between $250,000 and $1,500,000 in their next financing round.
